Notes The difference between the static -에 and the dynamic -에서 location markers usage may seem confusing for beginners. It is important to distinguish between the concepts of static and dynamic actions.
The place of being, lying, sitting or some other similar static activity is marked by -에. Dynamic actions include various kinds of activities, particularly those producing a result or leading to a change of state. Writing, sleeping, eating, studying are the examples of dynamic actions which locations should be marked with -에서.
