| Notes | -지 말- is a negative pattern used in requests, orders and propositions asking the listener not to do something. -지 말- is an alternative to short (안/못) and long (-지 않-/-지 못하-) negatives all of which cannot be used in commands in proposals. -지 말- takes various endings depending in the speech style. The polite form -지 마세요 corresponds to 'please do not (do) ...'. |
