Notes | Phrases with -겠- tend to sound less assertive and more gentle and polite. That is why -겠- often occurs in idiomatic expressions. In particular, it is quite common for -겠- to appear with verbs of knowing (알겠습니다) and not knowing (모르겠습니다) to soften up the fact of someone knowing or not knowing about something. When talking about intentions or will of a third person, -(으)ㄹ 거- should be used in place of -겠-. |
