| Back | future / prospective modifier |
| Notes | The noun modifier forms like -(으)ㄹ are endings that change the morphological function of verbs or adjectives so they could describe nouns. The -(으)ㄹ modifier attaches to verb stems and connotes a future or prospective situation. It is used when talking about something that will/ can happen/ be done in the future. 읽다 (to read) + -(으)ㄹ → 읽을 (that somebody will read) →→ 읽을 책 (the book somebody will read) 하다 (to do) + -(으)ㄹ → 할 (that somebody will do) →→ 할 일 (the job somebody will do, the job to do) -(으)ㄹ may occur with adjective stems as a part of other grammatical principles, for example, -(으)ㄹ 것 같-. |
