Front | 자넷은 고생 없이 지내 왔었어요 |
---|---|
Back | Janet used to be in the sun. (She is not anymore.) |
Notes | In some cases, the present state of affairs can be described by denoting its contrast with the past. -았/었었- provides the required sense of disconnection; something that used to happen in the past is clearly no longer applicable to the present. However, the usage of -았/었었- for marking significant changes is optional. Do not use -았/었었- when talking about an action or a state that simply occurred or ended in the past → use the simple past marker -았/었- instead. |
