| Notes | The -(으)ㄹ 수 있/없- pattern attaches to verb stems and generally corresponds to 'can/cannot'. It is used when talking about abilities to perform actions or possibilities of some events to take place. The pattern consists of the prospective modifier -(으)ㄹ, the noun 수 meaning 'circumstances', 'way', and the existential verbs 있다 or 없다. The 수 noun can be followed by the subject -가 or topic -는 particle which helps to emphasize the meaning ('really can/cannot'). |
