Notes -(으)려(고) is a verb ending expressing the subject's intentions or plans. Its basic meaning corresponds to '(in order) to', 'so that', or 'with the intention of'. -려(고) is used after verb stems ending in a vowel or ㄹ, whereas -으려(고) comes after consonants.

In its initial form, -(으)려(고) is used as a clause connective or as a sentence ending. The pattern also occurs as a part of the -(으)려(고) 하- structure expressing future intentions or plans.

The -고 part is optional. There are several usages of -(으)려 (with -고 omitted) in which it is followed by other principles, like -(으)면 or -(으)니까.
