Verb I 으)ㄴ/는지 Ending 는지 Future Tense 제가

Front 제가 얼마나 기쁜지 말로 표현할 수가 없어요
Back I can't tell you how happy I am
Notes The -(으)ㄴ/는지 ending is used to embed question-like structures into larger sentences. The pattern corresponds to various English question words like 'whether', 'where', 'which', 'what', or 'who'.

Clauses with -(으)ㄴ/는지 endings convey additional information required by the verb they precede. The verb in the main sentence belongs to a group of cognitive verbs (알다, 기억하다, 모르다, 궁금하다, 조사하다, etc.) or is a verb denoting the act of communication (말하다, 가르치다, 묻다, etc.)

The -(으)ㄴ지 form attaches to adjective stems; -는지 follows verb stems. The -는지 ending is always used after the past -았/었- or the future -겠- tense markers. The future tense can be also expressed in the -(으)ㄹ 건지 form.
