Weight Pull Hard Means Work Involved Task Negative

To pull your weight means to work as hard as everybody else involved in the same task.

It is often used in the negative, to suggest that someone isn’t working as hard as they should be.

“Putting on this performance is fun, but it’s also hard work. Everyone has to pull their weight if we are going to succeed.”

“She’s not pulling her weight.”

“I know. She’d rather sit around chatting than do any work.”
