Farm Brook Cooperative Reform Community Founded George Ripley

Brook Farm was a cooperative community founded in 1841 by transcendentalists. Its aim was to simplify economic relations and foster intellectual and spiritual self-improvement, but the community disbanded in 1847.

Brook farm's aim was to simplify and purify economic relations by retreating from an increasingly commercial society and working the farm together to achieve a simplified, near-subsistence existence which would have time for intellectual and spiritual self-improvement.
