"The Pirate" is an 1822 novel by Walter Scott, set in Shetland around 1700 and loosely based on the life of John Gow. Scott based the novel on his visit to Shetland in 1814.

It was published in 1822, the year after it was finished and the lighthouse at Sumburgh Head began to operate.
