Alpha Beta Glucose C1 Ring Side C4 Describe

Alpha glucose has its C1 hydroxyl group below the ring and aligned with the C4 hydroxyl group, while beta glucose has its C1 hydroxyl group above the ring and opposite to the C4 hydroxyl.

Alpha glucose has the -OH group on carbon 1 below the ring and on the same side as the -OH on carbon 4. Beta glucose has the -OH group on carbon 1 above the ring and on the opposite side to the -OH on carbon 4.

Front Describe the difference between alpha and beta glucose.
Back Alpha glucose:

Beta glucose:
  • -OH on C1 is above the ring and on the opposite side to -OH on C4
