Blood Glucose Hepatocytes Sugar Convert Glycogen Describe Role

Hepatocytes regulate blood glucose by converting glucose to glycogen under insulin's influence during hyperglycemia and breaking down glycogen into glucose under glucagon's influence during hypoglycemia.

Hepatocytes help control blood glucose by converting glucose to glycogen when blood sugar is high (stimulated by insulin) and glycogen back to glucose when blood sugar is low (stimulated by glucagon).

Front Describe the role hepatocytes play in the control of blood glucose concentration.
Back Hepatocytes & blood glucose:
  • High blood sugar - insulin stimulates them to convert glucose into glycogen
  • Low blood sugar - glucagon causes them to convert glycogen back to glucose
