Breathing Rate Tidal Volume Measure Number Breaths Explain

Front Explain how to calculate breathing rate and tidal volume from spirometer trace.
Back Calculating breathing rate & tidal volume:
  • To measure breathing rate:
    • Divide number of breaths by time taken for them to happen in s-1, 
    • Multiply that by 60 to get min-1
  • To measure tidal volume:
    • Count squares for TV for certain number of breaths
    • Take average of that
