The process of animal cloning by nuclear transfer involves removing the nucleus from a somatic cell of one animal and inserting it into an enucleated egg cell. After an electric shock to fuse and initiate division, the resulting embryo is transferred to a third animal's uterus to develop, creating a clone of the somatic cell donor.
