Concentrations Auxin Growth Describe Effects High Suppress Lateral

Auxin concentrations influence growth differently: high levels inhibit lateral shoots (apical dominance), while lower levels promote root growth, up to a point where even root growth can be inhibited.

High concentrations of auxin suppress lateral shoot growth, causing apical dominance, while low to optimal concentrations promote root growth, with inhibition occurring at very high concentrations.

Front Describe the effects of auxins at different concentrations.
Back Concentrations of auxin:
  • High concentrations of auxin suppress growth of lateral shoots, resulting in apical dominance
  • Low concentrations of auxin promote root growth (up to a given conc, the more auxin the more they grow until it starts inhibiting it)
