Graticule Stage Micrometer Divisions Work Real Eyepiece Explain

To calibrate an eyepiece graticule with a stage micrometer, count how many micrometer divisions (10µm each) fit the graticule, divide total length by graticule divisions, and recalibrate using the magnification formula when changing lenses.

Front Explain how to use a stage micrometer to work out the real distance represented by small divisions in an eyepiece graticule under 3 different objective lenses.
Back Using a stage micrometer and eyepiece graticule
  • Work out how many micrometer divisions (10micrometers each) the graticule takes up
  • Divide this length by number of divisions of graticule in order to calibrate it
  • Then use the graticule to measure real microscopic lengths
  • When changing lens plug into magnification equation to re-calibrate the graticule without using the stage micrometer
