Guard Cells Explain Open/Close Stomata Turgor Low Asymmetric

Guard cells open stomata by actively pumping in solutes to increase turgor in favorable conditions; low turgor closes the pore due to asymmetric cell wall configuration.

Las células oclusivas abren los estomas bombean solutos activamente para aumentar la turgencia cuando las condiciones son favorables; la baja turgencia cierra el poro debido a la configuración asimétrica de las paredes celulares.

Front Explain how guard cells can open/close stomata.
Back Guard cells:
  • When turgor is low, asymmetric configuration of guard cell walls closes the pore
  • When env conditions favorable, guard cells pump in solutes by active transport, increasing turgor, opening the pore
