Rate Water Measure Transpiration Uptake Factors Affect Draw

A potometer measures water uptake rate, which correlates with transpiration (99% of absorbed water is lost via transpiration), by measuring the movement of an air bubble over time.

Un potómetro mide la tasa de absorción de agua, que se correlaciona con la transpiración (99% del agua absorbida se pierde por transpiración), midiendo el movimiento de una burbuja de aire a lo largo del tiempo.

Front Draw, label and annotate a diagram of a potometer and show how it can measure transpiration rate.
Back Potometer:

  • Measures rate of water uptake
  • Measure distance moved by air bubble and divide by time taken to get rate of water uptake
  • Since 99% of water taken up is lost by transpiration, by measuring factors that affect rate of water uptake we measure factors that affect rate of transpiration
