Pose Verb 动词 Posing   [V N D Problem

英语单词 pose
英美音标 [pəuz]
中文释义 n.姿势,姿态
v.(使...)摆好姿势,形成,引起,造成
vi.摆姿势,佯装,矫揉造作
vocab简明 To pose is to assume a particular stance. Like a runway model strutting to the end of the catwalk, posing with her hands on her hips, and then gracefully walking back.
vocab扩展 The original meaning of pose from the 14th century is "to put in a certain position." The sense of pose as "to assume a certain attitude" emerged in the 1850’s. When a person poses, he presents himself in a particular way, often with the hope of impressing others. But if you're just posing objects, then the word loses the negative connotation.
真题原句 Noting the medical/psychological nature of problem gambling behavior, the letter said that before being readmitted to the casino he would have to present medical/psychological information demonstrating that patronizing the casino would pose no threat to his safety or well-being.
