Active transport is a process that uses carrier proteins and energy (ATP) to move molecules across a membrane against their concentration gradient, from low to high concentration.

Back | Uses carrier proteins to move molecules across the membrane against a concentration gradient and uses energy in the form of ATP which hydrolyses to give ADP and Pi(inorganic phosphate). Active transport goes from low concentration to high concentration. |
