A stimulus excites the cell membrane, increasing its ion permeability and changing the potential difference.
When a stimulus is detected, the cell membrane becomes excited and more permeable to ions, altering the potential difference across it.
Front | Why does the potential difference change when a stimulus is detected |
---|---|
Back | Cell membrane becomes excited and becomes more permeable and allows more ions the move in and out of the cell which alters the potential difference |
