At electron carrier complex I, NADH donates electrons (oxidizing to NAD+) and energy from the electrons is used to actively transport H+ from the mitochondrial matrix to the intermembrane space, then passing to electron carrier complex III.
Nel complesso di trasporto degli elettroni I, il NADH dona elettroni (si ossida a NAD+) e l'energia dagli elettroni viene utilizzata per trasportare attivamente H+ dalla matrice mitocondriale allo spazio intermembrana, passando poi al complesso III.
