Wave Depolarisation Avn Ventricle Walls Ensures Ventricular Systole

Ventricular systole occurs when the action potential from the AVN travels down the Bundle of His and Purkyne tissue, ensuring a bottom-up contraction of the ventricle walls and forcing blood into the pulmonary artery and aorta.

Front How does ventricular systole occur?
Back - wave of depolarisation arrives at AVN in floor of RA
- AVN generates action potential

- wave of depolarisation travels down Bundle of His in septum to apex of heart
- passes up Purkyne tissue in ventricle walls

- ensures bottom upwards contraction of cardiac muscle in ventricle walls
- ensures blood is forced into pulmonary artery and aorta
