Cortex refers to the outer cytoplasm region in a eukaryotic cell or, in plants, the ground tissue between vascular and dermal tissue in a root or eudicot stem.
La corteccia è la regione esterna del citoplasma in una cellula eucariotica, appena sotto la membrana plasmatica, con una consistenza più gelatinosa rispetto alle regioni interne; nelle piante, è il tessuto parenchimatico tra il tessuto vascolare e quello dermico in una radice o fusto di eudicotile.
