The pancreas regulates blood glucose. If levels are too high, it releases insulin, which helps cells absorb glucose and excess glucose is stored as glycogen in the liver and muscles.
Pancreas controls blood glucose by releasing insulin when high, prompting cells to absorb glucose and the liver/muscles to store excess as glycogen.
Front | Blood glucose is monitored and controlled by the pancreas. If blood glucose concentration is too high: |
---|---|
Back | -pancreas releases more of a hormone insulin -insulin causes glucose to move from blood into the cells -in the liver and muscle cells, excess glucose is converted to glycogen for storage. |
