Speciation is the formation of new biological species and involves populations becoming physically isolated, developing genetic variation, experiencing different natural selection pressures, and eventually becoming unable to interbreed successfully.

Back | The formation of new biological species 1-populations become physically isolated from each other 2-genetic variation is present between two populations 3-natural selection operates differently in the two populations 4-the populations become so different that succesful interbreeding is no longer possible |
