Agar Petri Dish Antibiotic Lid Cool Forceps Disc

Front
What are the stages for the antibiotic core practical?
Back
1. Pour molten agar solution into the petri dish (opening lid as little as possible) and close swiftly afterwards
2. Allow the agar mix to cool and solidify
3. Sterilise the forceps by heating them under a bunsen flame, and then allow it to cool
4. Use the forceps to gently place a ring of antibiotics (on the multi disc) on the agar
5. Use adhesive tape to seal the petri dish lid to the base - once it is sealed DO NOT open the petri dish again
6. Incubate the bacteria at no higher than 25°C for at least 72 hours
7. Calculate the cross-sectional areas of the zones of inhibition (the clear area round the disc) for each of the antibiotic discs using πr2
8. Record your results in an appropriate table
