Protein Shape Change Mutations Function Enzyme Explain Effect

Front
Explain how mutations will effect the function of a protein? (6 stages)
Back
1. Mutations change the base code in DNA
2. This changes the sequence of amino acids in a protein
3. Which will change the protein
4. The protein will fold in a different way causing it to have a different 3D shape
5. A different shape will cause the protein to have a different function, or most likely, not be able to function
6. A mutation in a gene that codes for a particular enzyme could cause the active site to change in shape and the enzyme would no longer fit the complimentary shape to its substrate
