Chronic Bronchitis Cyanosis Mucus Plugs Trap Carbon Dioxide

Mucus plugs trap carbon dioxide in the distal portions of the bronchial tree, leading to an increase in PaCO2 and a decrease in PaO2, thus causing cyanosis in chronic bronchitis.
