Back | Characteristics of this include: An inflammation of the meningeal coverings of the brain and spinal cord that can be highly contagious. The bacteria can be spread through the exchange of respiratory and throat secretions through coughing and sneezing. The effects are lethal in some cases. Victims who survive can be left with brain damage, hearing loss, or learning disabilities. Patients may present with flulike symptoms, but unique to this are high fever, severe headache, photophobia, and a stiff neck in adults. Patients soemtimes have an altered level of consciousness and can have red blotches on skin. Use respiratory protection, and report and potential cases. |
