Front | How should you palpate the pelvis? |

Back | To perform this palpation: 1) Place the palms of your hands over the lateral aspect of each iliac crest, and apply firm but gentle inward pressure on the pelvic ring. 2) With the patient lying supine, place a palm over the anterior aspect of weach iliac crest, and apply firm downward pressure. 3) Use your palm to firmly but gently palpate the pubic symphysis. The area will be tender if there is injury to the anterior portion of the pelvic ring. |
