Supine Hypotensive Syndrome Condition Caused Compression Descending Aorta

Front What is supine hypotensive syndrome?
Back This condition is caused by compression of the descending aorta and inferior vena cava by the pregnant uterus when the patient lies supine. Hypotension (low blood pressure) results. Patients in the third trimester should always be transported on their side except during delivery.
