Front |
List the steps needed to investigate the distribution of stomata and guard cells on a leaf |
Back |
- Peel the epidermal tissue straight off the leaf and mount in on a slide.
- Using a pipette, put a drop off water onto the slide. Put a cover slip over the top.
- Put it on the microscope's stage and focus the microscope. Start with the least powerful objective lens and work the way up.
- Estimate the total number of stomata on the surface.
- Count the stomata you see in the field of vision and do this 3 times in different fields and find the average.
- Multiply the amount of field of visions in the area and multiply by the average.
- This gives us an estimate of the total number on stomata on the surface
