Guard cells have thin outer walls and thickened inner walls to open and close stomata. They are sensitive to light and close at night to conserve water. Most stomata are found on the lower leaf surface to reduce water loss.
Le cellule di guardia hanno pareti esterne sottili e pareti interne ispessite per aprire e chiudere gli stomi. Sono sensibili alla luce e si chiudono di notte per conservare l'acqua. La maggior parte degli stomi si trova sulla superficie inferiore delle foglie per ridurre la perdita d'acqua.
