Adjacent Vertebral Annulus Fibrosus Structure Peripherally Located Concentric

Front Annulus fibrosus
Back Structure: peripherally located concentric rings of fibrocartilaginous tissue attached to adjacent vertebral bodies within intervertebral disk

Functions:
1. acts as ligament, but allows limited motion between adjacent vertebrae
2. limits and constrains protrusion of nucleus pulposus when vertebral column is weight-bearing
