Back Structure: loose plexiform arrangement of visceral nerves on the surface of the esophagus

Contains:
a) para/pre axons
b) post/symp axons
c) visceral afferent (sensory) axons

Function: innervates the esophagus and provides a pathway for vagal fibers to reach the abdominal cavity
