Back Structure: thin-walled superior, right-hand heart chamber, connected to the right ventricle via the tricuspid valve

Function:
1. receives deoxygenated blood through the superior and inferior vena cavas and the coronary sinus
2. contracts during diastole to send blood to the right ventricle.
