Structure: articulating bones are bound together by thin plates of hyaline cartilage and pads/disks of fibrocartilage. All examples lie in the median-sagittal plane.

Examples: intervertebral disks, pubic symphosis, articulations between parts of the sternum, epiphyseal cartilage of immature bones

Function: allow slight movements
