Lumbar Vertebrae Processes Vertebral Column Region Structure L1 5

Front Vertebral Column: Lumbar Region
Back Structure: 5 vertebrae (L1-5) that form the lumbar curvature. Lumbar vertebrae tend to have:
a) Large bodies
b) Long transverse processes
c) stout, posteriorly-directed, non-overlapping spinous processes

Function:
1. articulates with sacrum at lumbosacral joint
2. intervertebral space allows for lumbar punctures
