Back | Structure: the first node that recieves lymph from an area of the body. Can be determined by lymphangiography (after injecting contrast) or lymphoscintigraphy (after injecting radionuclide) or blue dye mapping. Function: used to determine if a cancer has metastasized - the sentinal lymph node would be the first place such cancerous cells would have gone. |
