Nodes Receive Breast Lymph Cancer Lymphatic Drainage Structure

Front Breast: lymphatic drainage
Back Structure:
1. Axillary nodes - located in axilla, receive lateral 75% of breast lymph
2. Parasternal nodes - along internal thoracic artery, receive medial 25% of breast lymph
3. Contralateral nodes (of opposite breast) - may receive lymph that drains across the chest midline (more likely if other paths are blocked due to cancer)
4. Cervical nodes - in supraclavicular fossa, only receive breast lymph if cancer is very serious

Function: very important because can be used clinically to diagnose and treat breast cancer
