Posterior Svc Intercostal Veins Axygous Structure Longitudinal Vessel

Front Axygous vein
Back Structure: longitudinal vessel in the posterior mediastinum on the anterior surface of the vertebral bodies. Passes posterior to the root of the lung, then arches superiorly to it to enter the SVC

Tributaries:
1. bilateral intercostal veins
2. forms a plexus with the lumbar system of veins in the posterior abdominal wall

Function: drains the intercostal spaces, provides a collateral pathway for the IVC and SVC
