Smooth Sympathetic Innervation Muscle Arteries Vasoconstriction Vasodilation Arterial

Front Smooth muscle of arterial walls
Back Structure: arteries throughout the body have smooth muscle surrounding them, which is innervated by motor neurons of ANS - typically just the sympathetic axons

Function:
1. Vasoconstriction - sympathetic innervation causes contraction of smooth muscles
2. Vasodilation - usually passive process due to blood pressure

Important exception: coronary arteries
1. vasoconstriction via parasympathetic innervation
2. vasodilation via sympathetic innervation
