Back | Relationship that indicates where a horizontal plane passing through the body intersects the vertebral column (especially its vertebral bodies). Important vertebral levels: 1. End of the spinal cord (L1/L2) 2. Transcristal plane for lumbar punctures (L4) 3. End of dural sac/posterior superior iliac spines (S2) Separate from spinal cord level because of development - for example, S5 spinal cord segment is at L1/2 vertebral level |
