Shoot Apical Growth Axillary Buds Role Auxin Dominance

Auxins produced at the shoot apical meristem promote shoot growth and inhibit the growth of axillary buds, a phenomenon known as apical dominance. This inhibition decreases with increasing distance from the terminal bud.

Back shoot and root growth, auxins produced in shoot apical meristem promotes growth in shoot apex, prevents growth in axillary buds (apical dominance), inhibition decreases as distance between terminal and axillary buds increase
