Beta testing is operational testing conducted by external customers or users at their site to evaluate if the component meets user needs and fits business processes, often serving as external acceptance testing for market feedback.
Operational testing by potential and/or existing customers/users at an external site not otherwise involved with the developers, to determine whether or not a component of system satisfies the user needs and fits within the business processes. Note: Beta testing is often employed as a form of external acceptance testing in order to acquire feedback from the market.
