Ficolins are carbohydrate-binding proteins that can initiate the lectin pathway of complement activation. They are members of the collectin family and bind to N-acetylglucosamine present on the surface of some pathogens.
Las ficolinas son proteínas de unión a carbohidratos que pueden iniciar la vía lectina de la activación del complemento. Son miembros de la familia de las collectinas y se unen a la N-acetilglucosamina presente en la superficie de algunos patógenos.
