Carbohydrate Binding Proteins Initiate Lectin Pathway Complement Activation Members

Ficolins are carbohydrate-binding proteins that can initiate the lectin pathway of complement activation. They are members of the collectin family and bind to N-acetylglucosamine present on the surface of some pathogens.
