Macrophages are large, mononuclear phagocytic cells found in most tissues. They have diverse functions including acting as scavenger cells, pathogen-recognition cells, and producing pro-inflammatory cytokines. Macrophages originate both embryonically and from bone marrow precursors throughout life.
Makrofagi to duże, jednojądrowe komórki fagocytujące obecne w większości tkanek, pełniące wiele funkcji, w tym usuwanie odpadów, rozpoznawanie patogenów i produkcję cytokin prozapalnych. Powstają one zarodkowo oraz z prekursorów szpiku kostnego przez całe życie.
