Tree Child Macbeth Malcolm Apparition Crowned Holding Signifies

Text The third apparition:
The crowned child holding the tree signifies to Macbeth that there is something to fear in his future.
The child could symbolise Malcolm - son of Duncan and the rightful king.
Notably, it is Malcolm who orders the trees to be cut down when attacking Dunsinane Castle.
Furthermore, the biblical allusion of a tree being carried echoes Jesus carrying his cross to Golgotha - a narrative which is rich in betrayal and sacrifice.
Macbeth has betrayed his king and his friend as well as his country, while also sacrificing his own morality for the sake of his ambition.
Moreover, a tree is a natural pagan symbol of strength which could infer that nature is taking its revenge on Macbeth, righting the wrongs that have been committed.
